The Ultimate guide to Crete

Traveling is very exciting especially when it is in a location you have never seen before. Greece was never in my list of places I wanted to explore, but when I was looking for great resorts to stay at Greece came up. Every now and then, we look for holidays and sometimes we want to go back to a place we have been to before and other times it is just a matter of exploring.

Greece is a land of beautiful architecture with breathtaking views. Everywhere you go there are beautiful, colorful flowers, cyclopean rocks and endless stairs. If you ever do get a chance to go, don’t hold back as you will be missing out

What to see

If you want to explore, this is a great place for you, especially if you love hiking, walking and/or climbing up hills and stairs.

This is the map of the resort. It may look tiny but once you are there the distance between things are great. The resort alone has plenty of sights to see and explore. The endless views will leave in amazement. Exploring the Crete resort can tire you out as the sights go on and if you bring a bottle of water with you, the exploration is just endless.

If the resort life is not enough for you a bus is provided which takes you into the city of Hereklion. The city has a variety of markets, shops and of course food. If shopping is your desire then you need not worry. Below are some of the sights we saw:

Where to stay

Crete has many hotels and for our trip we found Athina Palace a mere half an hour from Hereklion airport. As a rule all hotel rooms come with an option of sea view, garden view, beach beach and pool view depending on the hotel you pick. The rooms with pool view and sea view cost a little bit more. The overall price depends on everything you do during your trip.

During our stay in Athina Palace we had a sea view room. The sea view room comes with a massive double bed, a sofa which can be converted into a bed and the balcony with two chairs and the sea view. It is the most beautiful view in the world. Every morning when I woke up, I would sit out on the balcony and just stare at the sea and cliffs, truly a sight which brings about relaxation and peace.

Another great thing about Crete is that there is no noise. Everything is beautiful and quiet. If you simply want to nap out on the balcony or sleep with the door to the balcony open, rest assure that you will not hear any noise except the lovely song of waves and surf with the occasional distant cry of a gull.

If you want the best holiday, always look for an all-inclusive deal so you do not have to worry about the extra costs that will occur when you are enjoying yourself and not fully paying attention to the details. Before we booked our trip, we ensured that everything was all inclusive from flights to our hotel room and the food.

Where to eat

Athina has 3 restaurants. The Athina Palace restaurant is the main one and the other two are only available on reservation. Whether you are Vegetarian, Pescetarian or Vegan there is definitely a lot of food for you at Athina Palace. I found the food to be very delicious. The food is cooked in Greek style so you get to taste delicious food you don’t get to eat every day

Every single day of the week, the restaurants will have a theme night and make dishes from the chosen theme. They serve the food in a buffet style so that guests can serve themselves however much they wants. If you wish to visit Athina just to enjoy yourself and eat lots food, then this is the place for you.

This is the place to enjoy a sweet dessert, they have everything you can think of. Every night they change them up to match the theme of the day. Outside of meal hours, the hotel sets up snacks and beverages around the resorts for everyone to enjoy and relax.

If you have dietary requirements or allergy, I would strongly advised you to tell the chef. My husband has a very severe allergy, so every night the chef personally took us around to show us the food to avoid.

Please read my previous post if you want more information on how to get to Athina Palace resort.
